Why a Phone Battery and a Signal Decide Your Night in San Bernardino

At Beyond Wonderland the phone is your wallet, your ticket and your lifeline, and the festival says as much when it tells guests to keep their phone powered all weekend 3. The NOS Events Center is a 120-acre fairground founded in 1911, and on festival days it turns into a temporary city of stages, queues, bars and shuttle lots 4. You walk in with a QR code, you pay with Apple Pay or a card because the site is cashless 3, and you leave by finding the exact shuttle stop where your pass was bought 5.

None of that works if your connection drops. The gates, the bar lines and the exit queue at 2 AM are the moments when thousands of phones ask the network for something at once. Plan your data before you land, because a dead map or an unloaded ticket in front of a wristband scanner costs far more than a few dollars of mobile data.

Why Shuttle Passes Live on Your Phone

Shuttle passes at Beyond Wonderland are exchanged for a wristband at the stop, and you need your confirmation email and photo ID to do it 5. If that email sits unopened in a poor-signal corner of a Fullerton park-and-ride, you wait in a line you cannot skip. Download the email and screenshot the QR code at your hotel before you leave.

Why Finding Friends Gets Hard at Queen's Domain

Stages at the 2026 edition were spread across the fairground with names such as Queen's Domain, Cheshire Woods and Looking Glass 6. When a headliner closes a stage, tens of thousands of people leave at once and group chats stall. Agree a fixed meeting point before the set, share a live location pin, and expect messages to arrive late.

Why Late Rideshare Prices Spike After 2 AM

The festival listing shows music running to 2 AM, with the afterparty starting at 2:15 AM, and the shuttles leave 30 minutes after the music ends 3 5. If you miss the last return, you are booking a ride from a crowded San Bernardino lot at the same minute everyone else is. Having mobile data ready means you can compare options calmly.

The complete guide

When Is Beyond Wonderland in 2027?

Beyond Wonderland SoCal is scheduled for Friday, March 26 and Saturday, March 27, 2027 at the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California 1 2. Insomniac announced the return on March 31, 2026, with a limited presale for two-day GA, GA+ and 21+ VIP passes 6. Because the organiser's dates are still shown on a page where hours read "TBA", treat the dates as expected until you see them on your ticket confirmation 2.

Beyond Wonderland SoCal 2026 ran Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the same venue and was described by Insomniac as a sold-out edition 6 7. If you searched for "Beyond Wonderland 2026", those are the dates you want, and the lineup on that edition included Tiësto, Zedd and GRiZ 7. No 2027 lineup has been announced in the sources reviewed on October 15, 2026 10.

The date moves a little each year because Insomniac anchors the festival to the last full weekend of March in the Inland Empire, which puts it a week before or after the Easter and spring break rush depending on the calendar. That is a pattern from the 2026 and 2027 listings rather than a stated policy, so check the official site 1 7.

Do not confuse this event with other festivals sharing the brand. Insomniac also lists a Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge in Washington state and a Midwest edition near Chicago, each on separate dates 10. This page covers only the Southern California festival at 689 S. E St, San Bernardino.

  • Friday gates and Saturday gates are separate nights, each ending late

  • The 2026 festival hours listed on the FAQ were 3 PM to 2 AM 3

  • Afterparty hours on the same FAQ were 2:15 AM to 6 AM 3

  • Hours and Info for 2027 reads TBA, so wait for the official schedule 2

Tip: Book flights and a hotel for Thursday, March 25 through Sunday, March 28, 2027, so a late set or a missed shuttle does not leave you rushing for a Sunday flight.

Which Beyond Wonderland Pass Fits: GA, GA+ or VIP?

Beyond Wonderland SoCal sells only two-day passes in three tiers, and the official ticketing site is Front Gate Tickets, which is listed in the sources rather than linked here 1. A two-day GA pass includes one festival ticket, free water refill stations, food and beverage options and bar access 1.

A two-day GA+ pass adds an expedited entry lane and premium air-conditioned restrooms 1. A two-day VIP pass adds the expedited lane, exclusive VIP food and beverage options, dedicated viewing areas and complimentary Wi-Fi 1. The site also lists lockers, SkyDeck and afterparty passes in its menu without giving details on that page 1.

Price is the part that shifts most. For the 2026 edition the early Wonder Sale prices were two-day GA from $179.98, GA+ from $239.98 and VIP from $319.98 11. The 2027 presale asked for a $9.99 deposit that opened on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 12:00 PM PT and closed on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM PT 6. Treat the 2026 figures as a guide only, because the 2027 prices are on the Front Gate page 1.

Age rules are strict. You must be at least 18 to enter and 21 to enter VIP areas or use a VIP wristband 3. Nobody under 18 is admitted, even with a guardian 3. A VIP ticket bought for someone under 21 is not refunded 3.

  • GA: water refill stations and bar access 1

  • GA+: expedited entry and air-conditioned restrooms 1

  • VIP: separate viewing areas, food and Wi-Fi 1

  • No re-entry, and entry closes one hour before the event ends 3

Tip: Photo ID is mandatory. A foreign passport works on its own, and a foreign driver's licence works with a photocopy of the passport. Consular IDs are not accepted 3.

How Does the NOS Events Center Lay Out Its Wonderland Stages?

The NOS Events Center at 689 S. E St, San Bernardino, CA 92408 is a fairground of more than 120 acres that opened in 1911 and contains about 150,000 square feet of indoor event space 4. Beyond Wonderland uses it as a walk-around festival, so you cross open lots and between buildings, not one flat field.

At the 2026 edition the stages carried Wonderland names: Mad Hatter's Castle for the finale sets, Queen's Domain, Caterpillar's Garden, Cheshire Woods, Looking Glass and Sea of Wonder 6. Label partners ran takeovers, for example Bassrush closing Mad Hatter's Castle, Dreamstate on Cheshire Woods on Saturday and Night Trip at Sea of Wonder 6. Stage names and takeovers can change, so confirm them when the 2027 schedule drops.

Each night also ended with fireworks, pyrotechnics and a surprise drone show in the 2026 edition 6. People who leave early to beat the shuttle queue miss the best-looking minutes of the night, so decide before you go whether the closing show or the early exit matters more.

  • Mad Hatter's Castle is the big finale stage 6

  • Heavier bass and techno sets cluster in the smaller named woods 6

  • Water refill stations are included with every pass 1

  • Lockers can be rented for phones and layers 3

Note: Entry stops one hour before closing, so a late arrival after a long drive from Los Angeles is possible but not unlimited 3.

Which Shuttle Gets You From Ontario Airport to 689 S. E Street?

Ontario International Airport is the closest airport to the festival, and the official Ontario shuttle leaves from the Best Western Ontario Airport hotel at 201 N Vineyard Ave, Ontario, CA 91764 5. The page lists departures starting at 3:30 PM and running continuously, with the last return at 2:30 AM 5. The page does not describe a separate pickup point at the terminal, so plan a short hop from the airport to the hotel.

The other official shuttle stops give you four more options 5:

  • Downtown LA and USC: McAlister Field, 3000 S Hoover St, Los Angeles, departing Friday 1:30 PM and Saturday 2:30 PM

  • Orange County: Fullerton Park and Ride, 3000 W Orangethorpe Ave, departing Friday 2:00 PM and Saturday 2:30 PM

  • San Fernando Valley: Granada Hills Park and Ride, 15550 Chatsworth St, Mission Hills, departing Friday 2:00 PM and Saturday 2:30 PM

  • Downtown Riverside: Riverside Convention Center, 5th Ave and Orange St, daily at 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM

Shuttles return 30 minutes after the music ends 5. Passes cost money, are non-refundable, and work only at the stop where you bought them 5. You exchange the pass for a wristband at will-call at the stop with your confirmation email and photo ID 5. Outside food and drink are banned on the shuttles just as they are inside the venue 5.

If you prefer public transit, Metrolink and Omnitrans run ONT Connect, a free shuttle for Metrolink ticket holders between Rancho Cucamonga station on the San Bernardino Line and Ontario airport terminals 2 and 4 8 9. That gets you to the Inland Empire but not to the gates, so it is a backup rather than a plan for 2 AM.

Tip: Parking at shuttle stops is often limited and not guaranteed 5. If you drive to Fullerton or Riverside, arrive early or choose a stop with a hotel nearby.

What Goes Through the Gate Under the Clear Bag Rules?

Beyond Wonderland allows clear bags no larger than 12 x 6 x 12 inches, and small clutches up to 6 x 9 inches, clear or not, with or without a strap 2. Hydration packs are allowed with no more than two main compartments and one smaller compartment, and they must be empty on entry 2. Reusable water bottles are allowed but must also be empty 2.

Personal misting fans are allowed with a bottle no larger than 1.5 litres, which must be empty on entry 2. For a festival that finishes at 2 AM that is minor, but it matters if you travel to the Inland Empire in a late-March warm spell.

Allowed items include glowsticks, LED hoops and poi, totems under the guidelines, handmade signs without hard flagpoles, e-cigs, non-professional cameras and sealed intranasal naloxone 2. Prescription medication that has not expired is allowed if you show the prescription and speak to a safety officer at the gate 2.

Prohibited items include outside food and drink, glass, cans, drones, laser pointers, tents, chairs and blankets, balls, markers, stickers, pets and over-the-counter medication 2. Costumes that look like police, SWAT, fire, security or medical uniforms are also banned, including high-visibility vests, which catches a lot of festival outfits 2. Professional camera gear with detachable lenses or tripods is not allowed 2.

  • Leave the cooler, sealed snacks and the portable chair in the car

  • Check your costume for anything that looks like a safety vest

  • Re-entry is not allowed once you scan out 3

  • Pen or marker in your bag can be confiscated 2

Tip: The most common mistake is bringing a phone power bank assuming it is fine. The official list does not mention chargers, so check the Hours and Info page before you travel 2.

What Does Late March Feel Like at Night in San Bernardino?

San Bernardino sits in the Inland Empire valley east of Los Angeles, and late March days can feel mild while the evening cools quickly once the sun goes down. Check the National Weather Service forecast for the Los Angeles area in the week before you fly 12.

The festival begins in the afternoon and ends at 2 AM on the FAQ's 2026 hours, so you spend the whole sunset window outdoors and most of the night in a cold open-air fairground 3. Many people dress for the afternoon and shiver at midnight. A layer that fits inside a clear bag or a locker solves it 3.

Rain is possible in spring but not typical for a Southern California festival, and the official site did not give a rain policy in the pages reviewed 3. If you are worried, pack a clear poncho, not a large umbrella, because large umbrellas are on the prohibited list 2.

Crowds are usually densest in the two hours before the main stage closes. The easiest way to dodge them is to arrive during the opening hours of the afternoon, when fewer people are on site and the water refill stations and bars are quiet 1.

  • Pack a thin jacket or hoodie that folds small

  • Wear broken-in shoes, because the fairground has long walks between stages

  • Bring sunscreen for the afternoon even in March

  • Keep a power bank only if the list allows it 2

Which Inland Empire City Works as a Base for the Festival?

The cleanest base is the city closest to the shuttle stop you plan to use, because the Beyond Wonderland shuttle network runs from Ontario, Riverside, Fullerton, Mission Hills and USC 5. You do not need to stay in San Bernardino itself, and many visitors choose the stop that fits their hotel instead.

Ontario is the easiest choice if you fly in. The Ontario shuttle leaves from a hotel by Ontario International Airport, which means you can land, check in and board without hiring a car 5. Riverside suits travellers who want a bigger downtown and the Convention Center shuttle at 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM 5.

Los Angeles and Orange County work if you want a normal city trip around the festival. The USC and Fullerton shuttles leave in the early afternoon, so you must commit to a daytime start 5. If you drive yourself, the lot at the NOS Events Center parks about 5,500 cars in the venue's own description, but you should check the parking page for 2027 4.

Book early. Hotels near the shuttle stops sell out when a festival is announced, and the shuttle passes themselves are expected to sell out, with no sales at the stop 5. Look at current hotel rates in the week you book.

  • Ontario: best for flying in and the airport hotel shuttle 5

  • Riverside: downtown with two daily departures 5

  • Fullerton: Orange County stop, early departure 5

  • Mission Hills: San Fernando Valley stop 5

Tip: Do not sleep in your car in the festival lot. It is not permitted, and cars left during non-festival hours are towed at the owner's expense 3.

How Does the Cashless Wristband System Work at Beyond Wonderland?

Beyond Wonderland is a cashless event, and the official FAQ accepts credit and debit cards, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay and Android Pay 3. If you only have cash, you can exchange it on site for a prepaid card 3. Keep a physical card as a backup for a phone that dies at midnight.

Bar access is included with GA, and food and beverage options are sold inside 1. Free water refill stations are included with every pass, so you can skip bottled water entirely 1. Outside food and drink, including candy, is prohibited, which pushes you toward the on-site food stalls 2.

For a budget, count the pass, a shuttle ticket, a hotel night or two and food. Use the 2026 GA starting price of $179.98 as an anchor and add your own travel costs 11. Shuttle prices are not listed on the organiser's pages, so check the Front Gate shuttle link 5.

Lockers are available to rent, and the FAQ suggests storing your belongings securely 3. A locker can pay for itself if you carry a jacket, a power bank and a spare card.

  • Cards and Apple Pay are accepted everywhere inside 3

  • Cash converts to a prepaid card on site 3

  • Free water refills, so carry an empty bottle 1 2

  • Lockers for jackets and valuables 3

Note: Expect to pay with a phone at many points, so charge it before you leave your hotel and keep it charged all weekend 3.

Why Does Your Phone Struggle at the NOS Events Center Gates?

A packed fairground strains mobile networks, and the busiest points are the entry lane, the bars and the exit queue at 2 AM. The one thing the organiser promises is complimentary Wi-Fi in the VIP area 1. Everyone else relies on a cellular signal.

If you fly in from abroad, install a US eSIM before you board so you land with data. A United States eSIM activated on your phone before departure works as soon as you land at Ontario or Los Angeles, and you keep your home number for calls over Wi-Fi. Keep your home SIM in a safe pocket for banking messages.

What matters is the habit, not the number of gigabytes. Download your offline map of San Bernardino and the shuttle stops, save your ticket and shuttle confirmation as screenshots, and set your phone to low-power mode in the afternoon. That way you use data for payments and ride bookings, not for scrolling.

  • Screenshot every QR code and confirmation email before you arrive

  • Download an offline map of the Inland Empire

  • Agree a meeting point with friends before the set

  • Switch to low-power mode in the afternoon

Tip: Rideshare drop-off details were not on the pages I could read, so check the Parking and Drop-Offs page on the official site before you rely on a rideshare to leave 4.

Frequently asked questions

Take the official Ontario shuttle that departs from the Best Western Ontario Airport hotel at 201 N Vineyard Ave, Ontario, with continuous service starting at 3:30 PM and a last return at 2:30 AM 5. The page does not list a pickup at the airport terminal itself, so plan a short ride to the hotel. You need a shuttle pass in advance and a photo ID.

Beyond Wonderland is 18 and over, and you must be 21 or older to enter VIP areas or use a VIP wristband 3. Nobody under 18 can enter, even with a guardian 3. Bring a valid photo ID, because it is needed both at the gate and to buy alcohol inside, and expired IDs are only accepted with DMV renewal documents 3.

Yes, hydration packs and reusable water bottles are allowed, but they must be empty when you enter 2. Hydration packs can have no more than two main compartments and one smaller compartment 2. Free water refill stations are included with every pass, so you can fill up once you are inside 1.

GA gives you the festival ticket, water refill stations and bar access, GA+ adds an expedited entry lane and premium air-conditioned restrooms, and VIP adds the expedited lane, exclusive food and drink, dedicated viewing areas and free Wi-Fi 1. VIP is 21 and over only 3. All three are two-day passes 1.

No, re-entry is not allowed at Beyond Wonderland. You can still enter until one hour before the event ends, as long as your ticket has not already been scanned 3. If you plan to rest in your car or hotel, buy a locker and stay inside, because your wristband will not get you back in.

Yes, you should have mobile data from the moment you land, because the site is cashless, your tickets and shuttle confirmation are digital, and only VIP guests get complimentary Wi-Fi 1 3. Install a US eSIM before you fly and test it at your hotel. You do not need a specific amount of data, just enough for payments, maps and rides.
